Of course Obama’s pro-gay marriage announcement is part of his campaign strategy. In fact, everything he does is part of his campaign strategy because his goal is to remain the POTUS. Does that mean he doesn’t mean what he says, though? No, of course not. You can sit down and write out the pros and cons of Obama deciding to announce his pro-gay marriage stance, and you can even bash him and call all of this opportunistic, but that doesn’t change the fact that for the first time in American history, the current President decided to announce that he supports equality.

The only problem I have with Obama’s stance on gay marriage is that he still believes it’s a state issue, and as you probably know, most of our states are fucking retarded and the fact that this is even an issue is stupid in itself.

But whatever Obama may or may not feel on whatever issue(s), he has still done a lot for the LGBT community and his actions speak louder than his words.

LEAD SINGER OF PUNK BAND ‘AGAINST ME’ COMES OUT AS TRANSGENDER IN ROLLING STONE
The Associated Press reported tonight that Tom Gabel, lead singer of the punk band Against Me!, will come out as transgender in an article set to run in this week’s issue of Rolling Stone.

Gable told the magazine that she will remain married to her wife Heather, who she describes as “super-amazing and understanding.” Though she still goes Tom for the time being, Gable will eventually take the name Laura Jane Grace. She tells the interviewer that “I’m going to have embarrassing moments and that won’t be fun. But that’s a part of what talking to you is about - is hoping people will understand, and hoping they’ll be fairly kind.”

“Tom’s decision to live life authentically is a not only a personal step forward, but one that will advance the national discussion about treating transgender people with fairness,” said GLAAD President Herndon Graddick. “As more and more Americans get to know people who are transgender, they’re coming to embrace and celebrate them.”
