Well no, it’s not bad lighting. This is from a photoshoot, so the lighting was probably exactly how they wanted it.
It’s Hollywood, and since society says white equals beauty, most black women are airbrushed to look lighter. IMO, the most disturbing thing about this is that Beyonce didn’t say anything. Why would she approve of this photo when she is visibly shades lighter?

While they might not mean anything in the long run, first week sales show who has the power and who is the most relevant. Rihanna has 11 #1 singles and still can’t score a #1 album and/or outsell her contemporaries’ first week sales.
