i love this video so much
The Recording Industry Association of America, the company that deals with single certifications (gold, platinum, diamond), announced earlier today that it will be including on-demand audio and video streams to its certification program. In light of this new change, Lady Gaga’s “Bad Romance” has been officially certified DIAMOND for selling over 10,000,000 copies in the United States alone. This makes the song Gaga’s most successful in the US as well as one of the only Diamond-certified songs of the 21st century.
With these changes taking effect, we should see all of Lady Gaga’s singles, notably “Judas” and “Marry The Night”, receive platinum certifications. Congratulations.
Don’t agree with the rule, but… CONGRATS, LADY GAGA!!!
The rule, although kind of iffy, makes sense. As the music industry continues to change and evolve, the way we treat and gauge a song’s success must change and evolve as well. Whether we like it or not, Youtube and streaming in general is a massive way millions of people listen to music and watch videos, and because both of those things bring in revenue for the artists, it makes sense to count x amount of streams as one download.
I understand where you are coming from but I don’t think you understand where I’m coming from.
Why does a pop star have to do something for the gay community? Because female popstars would not have a career if the gay community didn’t embrace them. Gay men and women (predominantly gay men) are why these women are heralded in the ways they are and why these women have careers to begin with. What I’m saying is that it doesn’t make sense to hate someone who is helping facilitate change within your community. I’m not saying you have to like Gaga or her music, but belittling her activism when she’s the only popstar trying to do something, makes no sense to me. These hipster gays accuse the one popstar who dares to speak out and support the gay community of exploiting them all while having no problem spending their dollars on popstars who could care less about what happens to their core fanbase as long as they’re getting paid.
Yes, a big reason I love Gaga is because of her support of the gay community. And no, I’m not some vulnerable gay being manipulated by Gaga. Gaga’s support of the gay community goes far beyond wearing a shirt that says “legalize it” or posting something on Instagram about Frank Ocean. Gaga’s support of the gay community runs deep and has since the beginning of her career. Gaga’s support of the gay community has literally alienated her from the general public, also known as where you make your money, but she doesn’t care. Yes, her support has made her millions, but it has also “cost” her millions and has changed millions of lives. It shouldn’t be hard to understand that I like who I like because they actually give back. I’m not here for celebrities of any kind not giving back. If you have the damn power and influence like these women have, you should try to make a change and you should try to help the very people who pay your damn bills.
yup this is real.
